DESCRIPTION:West Seattle Classic Novels (and Movies) book club \nIn November\, we’re turning to Lampedusa’s The Leopard (1958) \n  \nThe Leopard (Italian: Il Gattopardo) is a novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa that chronicles the changes in Sicilian life and society during the Risorgimento (1848-1871\, when the modern-day Italian state united as one). Published posthumously in 1958\, a year after his death and unbeknownst to the author\, it became the top-selling novel in Italian history and is considered one of the most important novels in modern Italian literature.
