SUMMARY:AT HOME ON AN UNRULY PLANET
DESCRIPTION:AT HOME ON AN UNRULY PLANET \nWest Seattle journalist and author Madeline Ostrander will join KNKX’s environment reporter Bellamy Pailthorp to talk about Ostrander’s new nonfiction book\, At Home on an Unruly Planet (Holt)—in an event hosted by C&P Coffee and Paper Boat Booksellers. A series of vivid and hopeful accounts of American communities confronting the climate crisis\, the book asks\, how do we find a sense of home and rootedness in a time of upheaval? The book—just released this August—tackles this question with “searching intelligence and uncommon empathy\,” according to Pulitzer prize-winning author Elizabeth Kolbert. Ostrander will also share experiences from her reporting—from remote Alaska to Florida to here in the Pacific Northwest—and talk about finding resilience in heated times. \nFor more about Ostrander\, you can read this recent interview in the West Seattle Blog. \nYou can purchase a copy of At Home on an Unruly Planet either in advance from Paper Boat Booksellers (email bookorders@paperboatbooksellers.com or call 206-743-8283) or at the event. Madeline will be signing books after her talk. \nFacebook event is here: https://fb.me/e/1KohCm5R4 \n
