DESCRIPTION:Nature Journaling Class with Alma of A Wild Braid \n  \nAs a public school teacher\, Alma conducted many lessons outdoors and taught nature journaling – the practice of drawing\, making observations\, and asking questions about the natural world and keeping a record of these in a notebook – to children to help them gain an awareness of and appreciation for the natural world because\, in the words of the Senegalese environmentalist\, Baba Dioum\, “we will conserve only what we love\, we will love only what we understand\, and we will understand only what we are taught.” \n  \nNow she teaches nature journaling to adults because adults also benefit from time spent in nature!  For adults\, nature journaling is not only a way to connect to what we love.  It is also a way of making space in our modern\, busy and stressful lives for rest\, wonder\, play\, joy and even to process grief over climate change related losses. \n  \nAll basic sketching materials (paper\, pens\, pencils) will be provided but you are welcome to bring your favorite sketchbook and tools.
